Google I/O 2009 – How Do I Code Thee? Let Me Count the Ways Dan Morrill The primary way to develop apps for Android is using managed code that runs in the Dalvik virtual machine. Yet, Android also includes a super-modern Browser that includes Gears. It’s even possible to build parts of your apps in native code (that is, C.) Choice is good, but it does mean one more decision for the developer to make — and in this case, a big decision. Should you write your app in managed code, to integrate cleanly and seamlessly with the system? Should you write your app in the Browser as “Ajax plus”, so that it can run on multiple phone platforms? Or should you go for raw speed, and write part of it in ARM-processor native code? There’s no universal answer to these questions, but in this session Dan Morrill will teach you to pick the technique that works best for your app. In this session, you’ll get a demonstration of each technique, and learn how to apply them to your own apps.   2. @healingwell AppCelerator isn’t a real way of coding. It uses the Android SDK, to convert HTML into Native Android Code(Dalvik). Using AppCelerator isn’t coding for Android, you’re just coding in HTML.

  4. @healingwell it is easier, but it doesn’t provide the full set of features and its still, slow, appcelerator will always focus apple/iphone os. just look at the KitchenThink stuff, half the features shown there are not available on android.

  12. Follow up with google suck, I meant when you tried to do exponents with a negative number it gives you the wrong sign. Tried putting -2^4, the answer should be 16, google gives the answer -16. Tried this with other negative numbers, and you get a wrong answer. A negative number to a odd number is always a negative number, but a negative number to a postive number is always a postive number.

  13. Google , My ass. Talking about coding, they can’t even do simple math. For example, when you tried to put in -2^3 on the browser it gives you negative -8. Tried squaring any negative numbers, it gives you a incorrect answer with the negative. Try it with Yahoo and it work perfectly.

    first, youtube is own by google so they could have make it as long as they wanted.

    second, some channel are youtube partner, and they can post longer video than normal, user and they get paid by youtube, by ads.

  21. You’d need to learn to program in java. You can learn that online free. Then download the anroid sdk. You can get that on their site. It’s all well documented. That’s enough to get you started, because it’s quite in depth. It can be overwhelming for some while, but if you stick wtih it, you can learn. Think of a little app you want to write for it, and start with basic core functionality. I also would like you google to please raise the volume, if possible. Thanks.

  23. Many of the video clips you take… their sound volume isn’t high enough.. sometimes turning up the volume on my end doesn’t help… please turn up the volume…
